Earth hour was initiated by the city of Sydney, the biggest city in Australia with around 2.2 million people. This year, 24 cities around the world will participate in turning off the lights of homes and businesses to increase the awareness about global warming.
On Saturday, March 29, 8.00 PM, this event will take place for one hour. Residents are encouraged to switch off lights and appliances during this period. It is a good initiative to increase an awareness concerning global warming and reduce greenhouse gas emissions with energy conservation.
The 24 cities are Atlanta, Chicago, San Fransisco, and Phoenix in the United States; Bangkok in Thailand; Ottawa, Vancouver, Toronto, and Montreal in Canada; Dublin in Ireland; Australian cities of Syney, Perth, Melbourne, Canberra, Brisbane, and Adelaide; Copenhagen, Aarhus, and Odense in Denmark; Manila, the capital city of the Philippine; Suva in Fiji; Christchurch in New Zealand; and Israel capital city of Tel Aviv.
It is encouraged that all of you can participate in this event because I definitely will. Please tell your friends as well. This news is taken from 24 world cities in 'Earth Hour' black-out: organisers.
